Rick Smith (died 2002)849 viewsPhoto by Paul Buehrle. Paul writes:

""New artifacts found buried in the Mystery Texan archives. Pictures are from the 1971-72 school year. ... I know that Rick (Smith) wasn't JMC, but he came as close as one can to being an honorary JMC veteran.

On Rick's picture we spent some time cleaning up dust specks and softening the contrast a little, but I always felt that his picture was always one of my best at capturing Rick's sunny disposition."
'Liberated Zone' - Stalag 17 (3rd Floor Snyder), early 1970843 viewsThis photo was discovered and sent in by Anne Zholyn (Thanks, Anne!) in July 2004. It's a snapshot of the 'Liberated Zone' (a.k.a. 'Outlaw Territory') area set up in the central corridor of Snyder's 'Stalag 17' precinct (3rd floor center) during the 1969 - 1970 school year.

FOREGROUND (Standing): David 'Ace' Brigode
BACKGROUND (Seated): Phil Mirowski (behind Dave); Terry DeColumna (with sunglasses)

JMC's First Graduate: Margaret Burrow (Sullivan) - 1968838 viewsThis photo was posted to the Web on a family webpage maintained by Margaret's brother. It shows Margaret and her brothers in front of Phillips Hall, apparently on her graduation day.

Margaret graduated from JMC / MSU in 1968 - only the third year of the College's existence. This makes her the first JMC graduate (or at least the earliest JMC graduate I've yet been able to document).

Her brother's summary of Margaret's post-MSU life and career is available in the JMC Veterans Directory at this site.

A more recent (1998) photo of Margaret is available in the Morrillite Mug Shots Gallery at this site.
JMC Sign / Plaque838 viewsThis sign was posted over the doorway leading into the JMC faculty offices area (1st floor; Snyder Hall). The sign eventually ends up in private hands.

Photograph taken and submitted by Cynthia Freeland, 2002.
