"John Duley was my academic advisor at JMC. I made this portrait at my studio in East Lansing approx 1990.
He is retired, still active, and lives in Okemos. I remember he helped me & Jon Burbach start a darkroom in the basement of Snyder Hall."

MSU Press Photo - September 19672068 viewsI (Randy) recently purchased this MSU Information Services photo off eBay. The image file is from the eBay listing (hence vendor markings on the image). The back side indicates this is negative # 662673-1, dated 22 Sept. 1967. Handwritten notes: "Justin Morrill College" and 'Students".

This illustrates the JMC sign above the doorway from the Snyder lobby to the 1st floor south wing (JMC staff office area).

Peoples Park - Michigan State University, May 19701487 viewsDuring the spring of 1970, a "People's Park" sprang up in the quad area south of the Red Cedar River bounded by Erickson Hall on the east, the International Center (bookstore building) on the south, and Wells Hall (math / languages) on the west. Residents pitched tents (and at least one tipi) or set up improvised lean-to's. The area (also dubbed "Free") remained the scene of a persistent resident population, daily passers-through, and regular gatherings through the remainder of that turbulent spring term.

Kevin Fulton has kindly sent in scanned copies of some photos he took back in May 1970 of the People's Park area.

My best guess is that this photo was taken from the south shore of the Red Cedar, between Erickson and Wells, facing south toward the International Center. (- Editor)
