![]() JMC Faculty Group Photo: Spring 1969 (WITH IDENTIFICATION OF ALL THE PICTURED PEOPLE) |

This group photo was taken in Spring 1969 and distributed to the first JMC graduating class of seniors. In December 2002 Suzanne (Sheldon) Levy dug up, scanned, and forwarded me the photo in electronic form. Thanks, Suzanne! Unlike the (presumably earlier) faculty group photo republished in the 1975 10th Anniversary Tabloid, we have definitive evidence of who's who. Suzanne also still possessed the mimeographed sheet with a numbered 'key' indicating the identities of each person in the photograph. An electronic version of that original key's content is made available should you wish to review it (on a separate page - cf. link below). In addition, I've generated figures graphically illustrating who's who (presented below on this page)
Also, because this scan was made from a first generation copy of the photo (as opposed to a second-generation newsprint image, as was the case for the Anniversary Tabloid image), this image is considerably more 'crisp'. This photo / scan has not been 'tweaked', as I had to do with that other one.

Miscellaneous Notes: RE: Who's Don Gochberg? "My wife and I met Fall term of 1968 in Don Gochberg's JMC Shakespeare class and performed in (for the one extra credit...remember how at the time JMC courses were often divided into 3 credits for the main class and one credit for something more creative?) an elaborately staged reading of "Everyman." Dr. Gochberg was a visiting prof from University College (ATL, Humanities, etc.) Years later, when U-College was eliminated, he moved, along with many others (including Glen Wright from JMC), to the English Department. I believe he's still there, although he may have retired in the last few years. He was a marvelous teacher, very enthusiastic and with an appropriate flare for the dramatic. He also introduced his students to Eric Partridge's "Shakespeare's Bawdy," which made reading the Bard so much more fun." - Bill Trevarthen, December 2002 |
